XEROX Phaser Technology

by Bruce Morton on 2008-12-09 18:37:06 - Email This

At this point, I am not going to bore you with buzzwords and nanotalk about the XEROX line of printers in the "PHASER" category.

For now, suffice it to say [is that grammatically correct??], that this line of printers have been a HUGE HIT with the color print users of the world!

The "toner" is actually a block of ink that is melted onto the page.  Sounds sloppy.  But it works.  They call them INK STIX.  Although packages are pricey, and usually have 3 or 5 INK STIX per pack,  the COST PER COPY of these Phasers are really impressive. [If you want to read more about the printers, and see some reviews, click here.]

We offer ALL of the XEROX supply items for this printer; and we also offer Media Sciences brand, which are more economical and are of very high quality.

As always, all of the supplies we sell are fully guaranteed.

Happy Holidays!

Reduce your Inventory -We can Help!

by Bruce Morton on 2008-11-30 12:59:28 - Email This

Several of our clients have a large variety of printers. Some have all one brand, others a smorgasboared of flavors.  This blurb is about two clients who have mostly HP brand printers.  They each have at least three of the following printers.

HP LJ 4200 which uses part number : HEWQ1338A

HP LJ 4300 which usess part number: HEWQ1339A

HP LJ 4345 which uses part number: HEWQ5945A

HP LJ 4240/ 4250 /4350 which uses part number : HEWQ5942A or X

So they had to keep in stock four different toner cartridges; They took up a lot of space since all were so large, and had to constantly replenish stock on one or two of them, to eliminate emergencies.

The first thing we did is offered to come by weekly and do an inventory, this eliminated their emergencies as we keep agreed upon quantities of each toner.  They had nine of the 4250's and 4350's so we decided they should always have at least three replacements in stock.  They appreciated us taking over that responsibility and we did eliminate the emergencies.

Then, one of our manufacturing partners developed a Universal product that would work on ALL of the machines mentioned above.  Not only did this product reduce the amount of different cartridges our client had to keep in stock, but it tremendously lowered the cost per copy on all the machines!   Additionally, because of the extra high yield, the client didn't have to change cartridges near as often, which also improved overall productivity.

MICR Toner

by Bruce Morton on 2008-11-18 19:00:26 - Email This

Leo Decaprio starred in a very cool movie called Catch Me If You Can.  I am not Frank W. Abagnale although we both live in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Abagnale was the real life subject who became an expert at forging checks, and then eluding the FBI team led by Tom Hanks. After he was caught, he went to work for the FBI to legally utilize his talents.  Check Fraud is a huge business! One deterrent is to not have blank pre-printed checks laying around your office.

Small businesses don't need to keep pre-printed checks in their office. Instead, keep BLANK CHECK STOCK.  Either way, you definitely need to keep the checks in a fireproof safe.

The safer way to go would be to print your own checks. You can keep blank check stock, and whenever you are ready to print your checks, load the stock into your printer and print just the checks you are going to mail out.

You can choose this path with just one bank account. I know one of my personal accounts the bank changed names it seemed every other statement.  It went from Security Bank, to Gold Bank, to M & I Bank, to Arvest Bank in a very short time span. I probably skipped 1 or 2 names.  I threw away a lot of checks!!!    IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE ACCOUNT, then this solution really works well.

We can provide a special toner that will print your bank's and your business account numbers on the check.  This special toner is typically called MICR toner.

What do the letters MICR stand for?

MICR stands for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition, and is used to refer to all of the technology behind those funny looking numbers on the bottom of checks including the equipment used to read the checks at the bank.

Is MICR pronounced my-ker or micker?  [WHAT? You don't really care how it's pronounced?]

Technically, MICR is an acronym and therefore should be spelled out (M, I, C, R).

However, I have it on good authority that despite it being pronounced "micker" in the movie Catch Me If You Can (starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks, based on the book about Frank W. Abagnale, who by the way lives in my hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma), industry insiders most commonly pronounce it "my-ker".

Bottom line _____________________

Woops,, guess it's not the bottom line anymore@~

We provide MICR toner for almost all laser printers and some ink jet printers.

By the way, we also offer a complete line of ULTRA SECURE & SAFE check paper with multiple security features available.

Ink & Toner - NOT important?

by Bruce Morton on 2008-11-13 12:14:24 - Email This

A friend of mine, when told that we sell imaging supplies for EVERY machine being used, contends that ink & toner are NOT important!

Phfooey!

Why if there wasn't ink & toner, then the checks you deposit would be worthless, right?

NOT IMPORTANT?  I don't think so~

Recently, a new client greeted me at her office with a plastic bag that contained a competitor's Blue/Yellow box that was filled with loose toner. Remnants were on her fingers, and on her formally beautiful blouse.  Yes, TONER stains splattered on the front of a nice floral button down blouse.    Try telling her that TONER is NOT important!

A small business decided to print their own checks on blank stock, and they called us up to tell us the laser cartridge they puchased from the big national supply house was not working the way it was supposed to....or at least the way their BANK believed it should.  After some investigation, the client didn't realize that a special toner, MICR-ready, was needed to print checks AND the bank & client account numbers on the bottom of the checks.  The MICR toner can be read by the bank's check reading machines.  Don't tell this client that TONER is not important!!  [by the way, we offer MICR toner for most any printer!]

The rhetoric about "paperless office" was just that...rhetoric.....it seems that computers have caused us to print more....not less.

I am as guilty as anyone as sometimes I print a hard copy of an important email, even though I had access to the "printed" document from my home and office.
